Work with me

I help founders and companies bring physical products to life, from first sketch to mass production and launch. And I teach startups to prototype and validate along the way.

A trusted network in Asia

Making things well is where most products fail. Over the years we have built relationships with the right factories in Shenzhen, Dongguan and beyond, and we work with the biggest names in the industry, like Foxconn. We have our own people on the ground for sourcing and quality control, so problems get fixed on the factory floor, and nothing ships that doesn’t meet spec, even when the schedule is tight.

Production

  • Injection moulding
  • Silicone & 2K moulding
  • Overmoulding
  • CNC aluminium
  • Sheet metal
  • Die casting
  • Ultrasonic welding
  • Pad & silk-screen printing
  • Anodising
  • Powder coating
  • Packaging

Prototyping

  • FDM, SLA & MJF 3D printing
  • Laser cutting
  • Vacuum casting
  • Small-batch machining
  • Hand assembly

What I’ll help you with

  • With Michaël Devid in front of a large electronics factory in Shenzhen
  • Dinner selfie with suppliers
  • With a factory owner in their office
  • With Michaël Devid in cleanroom suits on an electronics assembly line
  • Tea with a supplier in their office
  • Thumbs up outside a factory in Shenzhen
  • Checking flex PCB panels with the production team
  • Inspecting boards around the tea table
  • A mould being machined on the CNC

On many of these trips I work side by side with Michaël Devid of Insyght, our hardware partner for electronics, firmware and cloud. Together we take products from first prototype to the factory floor.

Product design, through to production

Bring an idea or a stuck prototype, and I’ll help you turn it into something you can make and sell. I’m an industrial design engineer from TU Delft, and with New Things Lab I take products from first sketch to mass production: design, engineering, prototypes, suppliers, and production in Asia with our own people on the ground.

Crowdfunding launches

I’ve used Kickstarter to validate, fund and market our own products: MEMO was funded more than 1,380%, the ZONE Productivity Timer raised $306,380. I can help you plan what to do before launch, choose a platform and rewards, and see what a campaign really asks of you.

Workshops for startups and accelerators

Hands-on sessions on design thinking, prototyping and product development milestones, as I did for founders in the AMS Startup Booster in Amsterdam (2023–2025) and in the Industrial Design Engineering bachelor at TU Delft. Every team works on its own product, and leaves knowing what to prove first.

Advice and second opinions

Sometimes one conversation is enough: a fresh look at your MVP, your prototyping roadmap or your path to production. I’ll tell you honestly what I would test first, and what can wait.

Talks

I speak about what I’ve lived through as a founder: prototyping cheaply, moving from proof of concept to MVP to production, and launching a hardware product with crowdfunding.

Questions people ask

Can you design my product and get it made?

Yes. I design products from first sketch to mass production, as I did for MEMO, the ZONE Productivity Timer and Time Smiles, which together won three iF Design Awards and have reached more than 25,000 customers.

Can you help with an existing prototype?

Yes. Send me what you have. I’ll look at what works, what needs to change before it can be made, and what to test first.

Can you help with a Kickstarter campaign?

Yes. Both our Kickstarter campaigns were selected as a Project We Love. ZONE reached its goal in 99 minutes and raised $306,380 from more than 2,500 backers, the most-backed Dutch tech project on Kickstarter in 2025.

What kind of products do you design?

Physical consumer products, often with electronics inside: from a whiteboard wallet in aluminium and a silicone productivity timer to a bamboo clock, a watch, rugged IoT trackers and a delivery robot. Small objects people use every day are my favourite.

What workshops do you give?

Design thinking (“Let’s think like a designer”), creative ideation (“Let’s get creative”), product development milestones, and making low-fi and mid-fi prototypes. Each session is hands-on: teams apply it to their own product the same day.

Who have you taught?

Students in the Industrial Design Engineering bachelor at TU Delft, and early-stage startups in the AMS Startup Booster of AMS Institute in Amsterdam, in sessions from 2023 to 2025: workshops, one-on-one prototyping support, a talk on crowdfunding, and pitch feedback as a jury member.

What will my team actually do in a workshop?

Map its key uncertainties by importance and effort to validate, fill in an MVP canvas and a prototyping roadmap, turn requirements into “How to…” questions, and build a first prototype on paper or in Figma.

What is the difference between a proof of concept, an MVP and a production version?

A proof of concept shows that the core idea works. An MVP has just enough to attract early adopters and validate the idea. The production version is the full product, made at scale. I help founders plan when they reach each one, and what each needs to prove.

Where are you based, and in which languages do you work?

In Delft, the Netherlands. I work in Dutch and English, on site in the Netherlands and remotely elsewhere.

How do we start?

Send an email to hi@nyckle.eu with a few lines about your product, your team or your programme. We’ll have a short call, and I’ll suggest the format that fits.
